Valentine’s Day Decor

Purchasing the house was stressful because we kept having issues with our lender due to situations that they were responsible for. We moved from Florida to Ohio and were staying in a hotel waiting for the sale to be finalized. And because I really didn’t want to see the house before closing, there was an extra layer of anxiety. Finally, on February 14th, our realtor called to tell us we were clear to close! This is why we call the house The Cupid Colonial. So, as you can imagine, I’ve been so excited to decorate for Valentine’s Day!

But… life happens. Over the past several weeks, we practically gutted a bathroom twice (a story for another blog post). Because the bathroom required so much of our attention, I decorated fairly minimally for Valentine’s Day. I usually decorate all four of our exterior doors but was only able to put a wreath on the front door. And I was only able to decorate one of our mantles.

I found the vintage valentine’s card at a thrift store. It’s so sweet, it has a love letter written on the back. And the “love” sign is from Target.

This vintage flocked deer is repurposed from my Christmas decor. Vintage books add texture and height to decor.

The wreath is from Target and the Happy Valentine’s Day sign is from Walmart.

I’ve been thrifting vintage frames. The details are timeless! I printed out one of my favorite pictures of the boys and a floral pattern. I filled a thrifted vase with artificial roses. Yeah, pretty much all my indoor plants are artificial. My flower garden might have won an award, but I still can’t seem to keep an indoor plant alive.

My eldest son was born with a severe heart defect and he passed away. A friend of mine’s child hand-made this beautiful doll with a heart that isn’t “broken”. It’s one of my most treasured possessions. I also displayed our Chatbooks! And yes, another artificial plant makes an appearance.

Yes, we have a porch goose. She still doesn’t have a name. But, she dresses pretty nicely! I believe this makes me a true Ohioan now.

I made this sculpted wavy candle last year. It was easy to make and brings character to the decor.

The Be Mine pillow was thrifted. And I found the heart-themed felt garland at HomeGoods.

If you zoom into the bottom of the mantle, you can see a heart-shaped plastic leaf on the floor. I only noticed it when I was editing the pictures. Another random heart! I’m telling you, I’m always finding hearts here.
